Don't stop believin'...

Would you believe I still haven't gone into actual labour yet?

I am, however, now officially on maternity leave with strict instructions from my coworkers not to do anything. Which means I now want to do laundry and clean the house.

I do have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, and with any luck I'll still be at two centimetres and I can wait another week to have the baby. I'd rather not have her just now, since she'd be a bit early. I decided to go on maternity leave after feeling like crap on Wednesday, and taking Thursday off. Friday was my last day.

I am also overwhelmed at the generosity of my coworkers, who managed to organize a baby shower in just one day. We had registered at Target a few weeks ago, and one of the girls I work with said it seemed like most of the building was there on Thursday night. And now that the furniture for the nursery has finally arrived, we may actually have everything in place just in time!

So, in the meantime, still waiting...

Your instinct will be to go on a cleaning spree.. but lawsy.. rest while you can.

Don't worry, it'll happen. Nobody's stayed pregnant forevah. Although it sometimes feels that way, doesn't it? Don't clean! Seriously, the new baby won't know the difference unless you point stuff out to them. And who in their right mind would go "Look baby! See that dust on the bookshelf? I was going to clean that before you arrived but..." Nah, rest.

If you are not ready for the baby to come tomorrow that is ok, but just in case she decides to come tomorrow remember that it is the perfect day to be born!

So very, very exciting! I'd actually do what everyone else says not to do and get some things done, but only when I felt like it. Sort of the best of both worlds: Permission to laze and permission to accomplish.

Do what makes you feel best.

Oh big hugs Jen. And how lovely that they all rallied round at work to send you off in style. It just makes you feel so good doesn't it? And at least with the Nursery furniture there you'll have something to do while you're waiting. Was TFYO on time? I'm sure you've told us before but I've forgotten. xx

When the baby does arrive, I hope that the delivery is speedy. Take care, my only advice to expectant mothers is pack your bags.

Relish this down time before that babe comes into the world. Going from one to two takes a bit of adjustment.

How nice that they had a shower for you. I hope you got lots of lovely things.

I do hope you'll be blogging in real time during the actual birth? Photos as well, of course.

Good luck!

Anything yet, Jen???? Gosh, I used to hate it when people kept asking me that. My little Sprog was two and a half weeks late, so I got to hear it a lot.
So glad you've finally stopped work - although they sound like a lovely bunch of people.
Relax - if you can, and enjoy the calm before the storm.
We'll be thinking of you over here in the sunny S of F.
