Lad, I don't know where you've been, but I see you've won first prize...

Okay, time to clean up nice and line up on the red carpet...although mine is sort of that icky builder's beige colour.

Bellevelma over at Running With Books was nice enough to bestow a couple of awards on me. And etiquette says I need to pass them on. And I like you guys, so there's that, too.

So, my first award goes to Dumdad over at The Other Side of Paris. He receives a :

He gets this because he always has the coolest cartoons, which he draws himself. And I suppose I should really encourage him to share this award with his son Brainbox, without whom Dumdad wouldn't have some of the fancy videos on his site, either. Check out The Match of the Century if you don't believe me. And they say journalists aren't creative....

The other award goes to Mike at The Grand View. He gets a:

Mike has been dropping in here a bit, and he always has something nice to say. He also takes the time to respond to comments on his own blog. If he hadn't taken the time to comment here, I never would've gotten to see his page, which has a great selection of lists, I might add. His Friday lists are much bigger and more ambitious than mine, and he calls them 5 x 5's. He also has a wee obsession with golf, but I like him, anyway.

For more info on what these awards mean, you can go here to find out about their origins. These awards were created by Christy at Writer's Review. All you guys need to do is right click and save your awards. I went ahead and posted the white background awards, since you both have light backgrounds on your blogs, it'll save you a step!

Okay, that's the award show, and you didn't even have to sit through David Letterman, or any fancy song and dance numbers. If you were expecting song and dance numbers, I'm truly sorry. This is the best I can do:

Geez Jen,
Thanks for the award. I will take good care of it and be sure to pay it forward.

I love your title to this posting. Just so happens its the punchline to another of my favorite jokes.

I really appreciate your kind words and enjoy your blog.

Aw, thanks for the kind words, Mike. I'd heard the joke made into a song ages ago, and it seemed to fit here LOL Why am I not surprised that it 's one of your fave jokes?

Oh my god, you've just reminded me that I had awards to give out after my vacation and I totally forgot about them. LOSER! How did I DO that??

(still capping big emphasis words because I still can't figure out how to italicize in comments.sigh.)

jen, you'll love the word of the day...berncurf. riiight...

LOL, RC, your're not a loser, matter of fact I think you've got a few more awards than I do!

As for doing italics with HTML, it's easy. Just put a <> with a lower case "i" inside before the word you want to italicize. Then after the word put another <> with a /i inside it.

And Mike, I would be honoured to have a link on your blog, and I will add you to mine!

Okay, I'm trying ...

will it work??

don't count your awards too soon, missy. the number may change very soon.

YAHOO!!!!

Oh the things I could have learned earlier if I'd actually read my HTML For Dummies book. Jen, just practicing here because I didn't know it was even possible. And if none of that code worked I'm going to look like an idiot.

Hee Hee! That only took me three tries! Thanks, teach!

Jen said...

Okay, y'all, now let's try bolding things. You do the same thing, except replace your "i" with a "b".

You are great students, LOL

Hee hee, this reminded me I have awards to give out too.

I'm on catch up Jen as I've not been able to stop by for a couple of nights, but I love that clip.

I'm not sure where the word of the day comes from but I was thinking about posting about it in a 'Groups of letters that should be words' post. I was going to call it Wordy Wednesdays.
Have you already done it Miss J?
I'll have a look.

I've had a go at italics above.

Don't laugh if it hasn't worked.
Well, ok, you can laugh a little bit.

Yay, it worked.

You are now my favourite teacher.
